Macmillan has spent more than 100 years helping people living with cancer. From the moment someone is diagnosed, they are there with all the information, support and guidance they need, to help people diagnosed with cancer get the support they need.
Cancer can disrupt every aspect of a person's life, and its impact is different for everyone. Beyond physical health, cancer can affect relationships, employment, finances, emotional wellbeing, and many other areas of daily life. It can be made worse simply because of who you are and where you live.
Macmillan is committed to changing that.

A cancer diagnosis is the biggest challenge many people will ever face, and for some it can be made even tougher.
How quickly someone is diagnosed, the care they receive, and their chances of recovery can be affected by where they live, what they earn, where they work, how they communicate or the colour of their skin. It shouldn’t be that way.
Everyone deserves the best possible cancer care. But too many people aren’t receiving it.

Cancer Information
Macmillan offer a wide range of cancer information such as booklets, leaflets, audiobooks and many more.
Information and Support Centres
Usually based in hospitals and community spaces across the UK, Information and Support Centres provide information about different types of cancer, tests, and treatment.
In 2025, Macmillan supported almost half a million people living with cancer (approximately 476,000) via one or more of their information and support services, including the Support Line, information centres, Online Community, website, email support and Macmillan Buddies service.
Online Community
A safe, anonymous space for anyone affected by cancer to access and offer invaluable peer to peer support.

In 2025, the Welfare Rights Team on the Macmillan Support Line identified a total of £112 million to help around 13,200 people access potential welfare benefits.

Macmillan supported almost 476,000 people living with cancer via one or more of the information and support services, including the Support Line, information centres, Online Community, website, email support and Buddies service.
Macmillan Cancer Support/YouGov survey of 2,107 adults in the UK who have had a cancer diagnosis. Fieldwork was undertaken between 2nd Jan to 27th Jan 2026. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of people living with cancer in the UK (aged 18+). ‘480,000’ estimate by applying the survey data to the 3.4 million people living with cancer in the UK, sourced from: Macmillan Cancer Support.
